Two French journalists charged with blackmailing Moroccan King
Aug.29, Rabat: Two French journalists have been charged with blackmailing Moroccan King Mohammed VI. French authorities have handed them on preliminary extortion charges.
French writers Eric Laurent and Catherine Graciet were released under judicial supervision after being given the charges.
Lawyer for the king claimed that the journalists had demanded 3 million euros for not publishing book about the king. The journalists were arrested in sting operation.
The duo are considered critical writers against the king. The king in Morocco is considered above criticism and this case had drawn widespread attention in Morocco.
