TV channel in Afghan capital attacked killing atleast 2 people
Nov 7, Kabul: Gunmen have attacked a television station in Kabul, killing at least two people, including one woman, and injuring nearly 20 staffers and journalists.
According to reports, the attackers stormed the Shamshad TV building after detonating explosives.A guard and one of the attackers are said to have been killed and a security operation is under way.
while speaking to a local news agency TOLO news, the TV channel's director Abed Ehsas stated that the attackers stormed Shamshad TV station on Tuesday morning after detonating explosives at their gate.At least two other insurgents entered the building and started randomly shooting Shamshad TV staff.
“It was an attack on the media and on the people’s voice. It was not the first attack and probably it will not be the last attack (on media).
“We have resistance and the wounded have been brought to hospital and no one can silence the voice of the media.
Ehsas said the staff had been in their offices when the attackers entered the building wearing police uniforms.
“They threw hand grenades at our security guards,” he told the local news agency.
No group has claimed responsibility and the Taliban rejected any involvement in the attack.
