The Durand lines is a sign of Oppression that has divided a nation: Afghan Academician Yoon

April 8, Kabul: In response to a comment made by Afghan MP Abdul Latīf Pedrām on the need to Recognize the Durand Line, the academic community in the country has risen to  condemn the comment as a renowned Afghan Scholar and Academician Mr.Yoon has stated that no one but the people of Afghanistan have the right to decide on the matter .

"The Durand line it was made in the colonial era during which the British forcibly and oppressively created it, this line was not accepted by Afghans throughout history and no Afghan will accept such lines. He also added no Afghan government has accepted it and none will accept it in the future. "The Afghan people have  never accepted this borderline because and we have the right to take our land back," he told The Oslo Times in an exclusive interview that will be published shortly.

While condemning the MP he further stated that  the line was created during colonial days and is an illegal division of the country. " It was created by  force and oppression, so that line has never been accepted by the people of Afghanistan," he said, before adding that the MP Pedram, was deluded to think that the people would accept this line as an international border," like the way Hong Kong was returned to China after the British left, we need our region back too," he said.
