The Burgas Affair
This riveting thriller by Israeli novelist, Ellis Shuman, tells a fictional story in the aftermath of a real-life terrorist incident that took place at Burgas Airport in 2012.
When a tourist bus carrying Israeli tourists explodes at the airport, Ayala Navon, an Israeli data analyst, is sent to the Bulgarian city to investigate in her first overseas assignment. She teams up with the headstrong Detective Boyko Stanchev of the Bulgarian police task force. The two attempt to establish whether the attack had been orchestrated with the help of a Bulgarian crime organization. It should be a routine investigation, but shadows of the past keep interfering.
Boyko’s interactions with a crime boss pursuing a vendetta against him threaten to throw him off track. Ayala’s pursuit of the terrorists and their accomplices brings up painful memories of a family tragedy. The shaky alliance evolves into growing cooperation and affection, while desperately racing against time to uncover who was behind the Burgas bombing.
The Burgas Affair can be pre-ordered on Amazon, before its release on October 30, 2017. The Bulgarian version, Бургаската афера, was released last year.
