Several dead as deadly flash floods hit French Riviera
Oct.4, Paris: At least 13 people have been killed after violent flood and storms hit in and around the French Riviera. Six more people are missing, officials said.
Presenting a statement, Francois Hollande, the French president on Sunday said that people were found dead in the towns of Cannes, Biot, Golfe-Juan and Mandelieu-la-Napoule in the southeast.
Heavy flooding along the Cote d'Azur in France's southeast saw the River Brague burst its banks close to the city of Antibes, sending deadly waves crashing into a nearby home for the elderly, killing three people.
Three elderly people drowned when their retirement home near the city of Antibes was inundated with floodwater. Another victim was found dead at an Antibes campsite, according to local officials.
At least 35,000 homes are conformed without power, raising fears the death could rise again, officials said.
