Russia to preserve Soviet era films
6 Aug, Moscow: Though Russian cinema-goers largely shun domestic films in favour of Hollywood blockbusters, Russian authorities are keen on protecting and promoting Soviet era films.
According to reports, approximately a million or so classic Soviet era films are being preserved. These movies during the Soviet era, were seen as a crucial way to spread communist ideals across a huge empire. In the midst of all the propaganda, there was also great quality.
About million or so classic Soviet-era films are being preserved as part of Russian's cultural heritage in climate-controlled rooms of Russia's State Film Fund.
