Queen Elizabeth II to become UK's longest-reigning monarch
Sept.9, London: Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II becomes the longest-reigning monarch later when she passes the record set by her great-great-grandmother Queen Victoria.
Queen Elizabeth, who ascended the throne aged just 25 as her exhausted country struggled to recover from the ravages of World War II.
The Queen will have reigned for 63 years and seven months - calculated at 23,226 days, 16 hours and approximately 30 minutes at about 5:30 pm local time.
British Prime Minister David Cameron led the tributes to the queen. Cameron tweeted: "Over the last 63 years, Her Majesty has been a rock of stability in a world of constant change.
The Queen, who is 89, will spend the day on official duties in Scotland.
A Buckingham Palace spokeswoman said that she might even make a rare public speech afterwards.
