Protesting refugees clash with Hungary police
Sept 16, BUDHAPEST: Hungarian police have fired tear gas and water canon to keep protesting refugees from the Hungary-Serbia border.
After the migrants on the Serbian side threw stones, bottles and sticks at police on Hungarian side, the police had responded with shells of tear gases and water canon, Hungarian police said.
The protesting refugees crossed the border before 29 of them were detained during the clashes. "Police also captured an identified terrorist," Gyorgy Bakondi, a security adviser to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, told state television M1.
The clashes came a day after Hungary sealed its entire border with Serbia with a new razor-wire border fence.
