Palestinian woman shot by Israeli forces in West Bank dies
Sept.22, Ramallah: A young Palestinian woman was shot in Hebron on Tuesday morning after she tried to stab a soldier in the occupied West Bank has died.
Hadeel al-Hashlamun, a 19-year-old university student was wounded at the checkpoint near the centre of Hebron on Tuesday morning.
"The attacker attempted to stab a soldier," an Israeli army spokeswoman said, explaining that the soldier then fired live ammunition at her "lower
extremities". The soldier was not wounded.
The army said that the woman was transferred to a hospital in Israel after the incident.
Now the soldiers have increased their numbers throughout the city, said Hebron resident Issa Amro, who is the coordinator of the Hebron-based Youth Against Settlements monitoring group.
According to Amro, clashes broke out between Palestinian youth and Israeli soldiers in the area following the shooting and are still ongoing across the city.
