Officer suspended after journalists abused in Israel
Sept.27, Jerusalem: The Israeli military has suspended an officer for assaulting Agence France-Press journalists. The soldier was caught on camera assaulting pair AFP journalists in the West Bank.
The army called the incident to be grave and in contravention to the code of ethics. The investigation is continuing. The Foreign Press Association has said that the journalist and the photographer were beaten by Israeli troops and smashed a video camera and a still camera.
The Israeli army has a long history of ignoring complaints of alleged violence against journalists.
