Nigeria: Tanker explosion kills six persons , injured 14 others along Kaduna -Abuja Highway

Oct - 7 Kaduna : Six persons were killed by a fire outbreak involving petrol tankers at Tafa, Kagarko local government area of Kaduna state Northwest Nigeria.
The incident which occurred on Saturday also left 14 persons with various degrees of injuries. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. One house and several shops were burnt when the trailer conveying petroleum products caught fire. In a statement issued by the spokesman to the Kaduna State Governor, Samuel Aruwan said the governor Nasir El-Rufai who lamented the incident, insisted that Tanker drivers must stop parking on the highway. The governor arrived the scene of the incident around 6:30pm,accompanied by other government officials as he condoled the community and assured them of government commitment to complete the Tafa trailer park for the Tanker drivers to relocate.
"We can’t allow this menace to persist while putting the lives of our citizens on the line. “It is unfortunate and painful but we will redouble our commitment to end this menace. " We have been doing our best insisting, that trailers must leave the highway because parking on the road is risk to our citizens" he said.
