Nigeria: President Buhari meet Newspaper proprietors, seeks support
(Abuja) president Muhammadu Buhari said his administration would continue to partner with the media in ensuring speedy progress of the country.
The president made the statement when he met with members of Newspaper Proprietors’ Association of Nigeria (NPAN) in Abuja on Friday.
Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, Femi Adesina told newsmen that members of NPAN are key stakeholders in the Nigerian Project.
"The media and the government must work together because they have a lot in common. "So, from time to time, there should be meetings like this between government andmedia.
The media, through the executives of the Newspaper Proprietors’ Association of Nigeria brought up some key issues affecting the industry, affecting the country," he said.
Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the President, expressed optimism that there would be greater partnership between President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration and the media.
According to him, members of the NPAN appreciated the efforts of the presidenttoward tackling challenges in the country. “support for major policies of government is clearly indicated, the waragainst corruption is very much appreciated and the efforts by the President to dealWith the situation."
