Israeli troops deployed after attacks
Oct.14, Jerusalem: Israeli soldiers are deployed across the cities in Jerusalem to help police to combat ongoing violence in the area. Check points have been set up at exit point of Palestinian border of East Jerusalem.
The security was stepped up after the Security cabinet of Israel authorized police to seal off or impose a curfew on parts of Jerusalem in case of friction or incitement to violence on Wednesday. The decision also allowed the deployment of security forces throughout Jerusalem's public transport network, using military units to reinforce Israeli police force and to demolish terrorist homes and revoking their permanent residency.
The army deployed six companies on Wednesday to the country's urban areas, two weeks since the latest tensions between Palestinians and Israelis turned violent.
The move is the first implementation of measures decided upon by Israel's security cabinet to combat a series of Palestinian shooting and stabbing attacks against Israeli civilians and soldiers.
Israeli security forces has crackdown on Palestinian worshippers at the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem since last month where violent clashed has increased in numbers.
