IS making and using chemical weapons in Iraq and Syria
Sept.11, Abuja: US claimed that Islamic State (IS) militant groups are involved in making and using the chemical weapons in Iraq and Syria. The US intelligence has identified four instances of using mustard gas agents in Iraq and Syria, according to BBC.
The chemical is in powder form and are packed in explosives like mortar, and when it explodes the mustard laced dust blisters and affects those who are exposed to it.
The intelligence believe that there are three explanations how IS acquired the chemical agent, the most possible is that they are manufacturing it in their little research cell. Or, it has found chemical weapons caches in Iraq or in Syria.
More than 200,000 people have died since the since the civil war began in Syrian following anti-government protests in early 2011, but only a tiny percentage are believed to have died as a result of chemical weapons.
