IS attacks kills dozens of people in Deir al-Zour
Jan 17, Damascus: Syrian local media have reported that dozens of people were killed in an offensive attack by Islamic State on government-held areas of Deir al-Zour in eastern Syria.
At least 85 civilians were killed in the attack according to Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, including 50 Syrian soldiers. Syria's state news agency Sana reported that around 300 civilians had died in the Baghaliyeh area of the city.
UN has warned that the situation is deteriorating in the area where around 200,000 people still remains in the area.
