    Houston faces catastrophic flood

Aug 28, Washington DC: The American city of Houston is under a catastrophic flood after the biggest storm in the history of the state of Texas.

According to reports, over 75cm of rain has fallen on parts of the city this weekend, turning main roads into rivers and making it impossible to move around other than by boat as bands of storm have been repeatedly pummeling the same areas as the Tropical Storm Harvey moves slowly towards Louisiana. Over the next few days the storm is forecasted to head back into the Gulf of Mexico, where it would pick up moisture before moving back over Galveston and into Houston again, according to metereologists.

The city is expected to be deluged by a year's rainfall within this week. With rescue services overstretched as the rain continues, many people are having to fend for themselves. Similarly,  The US President Trump will be visiting Texas on Tuesday to see for himself the damage caused by the storm. He signed a disaster proclamation on Friday, paving the way for federal cash to go towards the relief effort.
