Emirates airline flight crash-lands at Dubai airport
Aug.3, Abu Dabi: An Emirates airline flight from India has crash-landed at Dubai International Airport with some 300 people on board, according to officials.
Images posted online show thick black smoke coming from the plane, with no landing gear visible.
According to the Dubai government media office, all passengers were evacuated safely and no injuries have been reported. It said all departures and arrivals from the airport have been suspended until further notice.
The Boeing 777 was reportedly flying in from the southern Indian city of Trivandrum.
Emirates airline said there were 282 passengers and 18 crew on board.
Passengers on planes landing at the airport at the time looked on in horror. No cause has so far been established for the crash, but images shared on social media suggest a belly landing, which occurs when an aircraft lands without its landing gear fully extended, using its underside to come to a halt, BBC reported.
