Canada's opposition party inches closer to victory
Oct 20, Ottawa: The nine year Conservative rule in Canada seems to be coming to an end as the Opposition Liberal party takes lead in the parliamentary elections on Monday.
The Liberals, led by Justin Trudeau, according to reports are leading in 182 electoral districts.
Further predictions by Canada's CBC and CTV state that the late Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau's son may soon form the next government.
Meanwhile, the Incumbent Prime Minister Stephen Harper is leading in 98 districts.
A third party, the left-leaning New Democratic Party (NDP) was ahead in 29 districts. It still could play a key role in whether Mr Harper and his Conservatives lose power.To form a majority government, a party needs 170 seats in the 338-member parliament.
