A powerful Earthquake jolts Mexico on the anniversary of the devastating 1985 quake
Sept 20, Mexico City: A powerful 7.1 earthquake has struck southern Mexico, Tuesday,according to US Geological Survey (USGS). Witnesses are saying the tremor shook buildings in the country's capital.
Thousands of people took to the streets on Tuesday, fleeing their houses as the buildings swayed sickeningly on the anniversary of a 1985 quake that did major damage to the capital.
Mexico's seismological agency calculated its preliminary magnitude at 6.8 and said its center was east of the city in the state of Puebla, and so far no reports of casualties or destruction as a result of the quake, have been reported so far.
